Congrats to Ben McKean (Savored) on Groupon Acquisition.

On behalf of our growing SLP Family, we’d like to congratulate Ben and his team on an awesome accomplishment on the sale of Savored to Groupon. Ben joined SLP in its first class in New York two years ago surrounded by other amazing Fellows. He raised his first round of financing during that year, then a second, and now three years from first starting his company, was bought by Groupon. Congrats to Ben’s team and best wishes for the year ahead. We’ll organize a call to hear Ben’s story soon. He is joining Groupon where he will run Savored stand-alone.The Forbes article on Groupon.

Ben’s bio: Ben McKean is the Co-Founder and CEO of Savored, the nation’s leading provider of yield management solutions to the restaurant industry. Over 1,000 restaurants nationwide use the Savored reservation platform to lower prices when they have empty tables and to increase prices when they have excess demand. Savored leverages a proprietary technology that searches restaurant availability and leverages yield management to offer diners the lowest possible price at great restaurants. Prior to Savored, Ben worked in investment banking for Merrill Lynch’s Global Technology Group, where he performed extensive industry research primarily for clients in the Internet and digital media markets. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Ben successfully founded CheapSummerHelp LLC, a service referral company that employed over 30 workers and generated over $540,000 of annualized sales. He sold the company in December 2007. He is a 2008 graduate of Georgetown University, where he was on the Varsity Baseball team and graduated with a political economy degree.He was selected as a 2011 Fellow to the Startup Leadership Program.
